Hi,
I had applied for a new H1 Visa and now I see a status on USCIS site that "Application Type: I129, PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER
Current Status:
On September 18, 2006 the appropriate American Consulate or port of entry was notified by cable, telephone, or fax of the approval of this case."

Does anybody know what do we mean by this. Gnerally we get a different message saying the application is approved and approved petition will be mailed within 30 days. But what is meaning of the satus "On September 18, 2006 the appropriate American Consulate or port of entry was notified by cable, telephone, or fax of the approval of this case."

Thanks for your input.

Hi Reddyl, I appreciate your response. Thanks for your input. Currently I ma outside USA(in Switzerland). Are you saying that my case is approved and I just need to stamp it again and enter USA after Oct 1st 2006.

Why did you receive the same status and what did you do after that ? Can you please tell me your contact number and may be I can call you for few mins to discuss the same.

Thanks again.

COS approved

Hi,

My h1B cos got approved and now i can start working from oct 1st.I had a gap between my opt and h1 start date.So that was the reason for not getting cos approved first time.

Yes since u are outside the US u will have to get a visa stamp at the consulate mentioned in ure approval notice and enter US .

Hope this helps.

Hi reddyl, Reading you post I think you might have an answer for my concern. I had a gap between opt and h1b start date ( a gap from april 14 to oct 1). Today, online uscis status says that h-1b petition approved on Nov 28, 2006. My questions is :
I think I won't get COS approval when my petition approval notice 1797 comes in mail due to the gap. WHat do you mean by "not getting cos approved first time" in your case and HOW did you finally get COS approval within the US. How did you resolve the gap issue?
Much appreciated,
mnafzal
