H1 Visa Stamping name check process

hello

Has anyone gone to mumbai consulate for H1 stamping recently & been asked to do fingerprints for name check ?. I was on F1 visa & now i am working in USA so i came down to mumbai to get my H1 stamped for the first time. When i went for an interview they said i need to get fingerprints done. So they took my fingerprints & said it will take atleast one month for them. Does anyone has got similar problem? ?Is there any way to get this process expidated? Will it really take one month or does this come in less time? If anyone can share there experiences with me will be really helpful to me

What reason did they specify? What is u r profession? Coz. I think if they are doing some sort of background check then, it takes 4 -6 weeks..so...

Hello

They said that this is our process we have to do this. I am a Physiotherapist. I am working in US from last 1 & 1/2 years. I had one H1 which was valid for one year than i got the new h1 now. So as i had to come to India i went for stamping. If anyone has gone through this process please reply,

I have read elsewhere on this forum that ppl have been called by the consulate in as little as 2 days saying that the FBI check is complete and they can come get their visa. I guess it could take longer if you really have a record in the FBI database and/or ur name is similar to someone else in the system then a 'human' has to research ur case further and respond.

sounds like the 4-6week is a standard answer from the consualte(s) in case they need as much time. if u have a clean record, hopefully u shud hear from them soon.

btw, i saw u posted that ur CP interview was successful on 9/30. Who is the H1 for? or r u posting for someone else?
