Hi, :)

I am trying to get an appointment with the Mumbai Consulate for my H1 B Visa Stamping (first time). I will be in India for 4 days of which 2 days will be in Goa attaending a wedding. First I was plannning on going to the Chennai consulate for the stamping but due to time contraints I decided Mumbai would be better as I have relatives there. The Chennai consulate advised me to contact the Mumbai Consulate. I am concerned regarding a couple of issue:

1. Is there any chance the Mumbai Consulate will deline to give me an appointment.
2. I went to to the Mumbai Consule website http://www.visa-services.com/usa/interview-working-online.html, but the documents listed are very few. Please let me know if I need any additional documents that are not listed.
3. How long will it take to get it my passport stamped and returned.

I would apprecite any help/advice you can give me.
Thanks,
Reeja

Hi,
I got my H1-B stamped from mumbai about 6 months back.
I guess you have to send in all the documents mentioned when you seek on-line appointment. After they receive everything they will email you your appoitmnet confirmation.
On the day of appointment you carry all the original docs indicated on website. After issuing your H1-B they send the passport through courier. If you give local address of mumbai you might get in 1 or 2 days (but this depends). Pl check with vfs guys.
Regarding getting H1-B from mumbai : I dont think your should have any issue as long as you carry all documents.

Hi,
Do you need to carry your W2 tax summary while going for stamping in MUMBAI CONSULATE? What if I do not have W2 of my previous company since they were not paying me bench salary? I was with the previous company for approx. 2 and 1/2 months. Is there are way to get around this problem? What all questions did they ask during stamping?
