Important : H1 Visa (processing time) DELHI embassy

Hi,
I've received my H1B approval (current status F1). I wish to go to india and get a visa stamp at delhi consulate.
Any ideas how long is it taking these days to get a stamp in delhi...would anyone like to share their experience ..
In particular for NEW H1B stamps.. (for renewal one can use drop box i believe and its faster)

another question, can the background/security check be done in US itself...

I am in the same boat...leaving in Feb for H-1 stamping.
I hope someone shares his/her experience..........
