H1 VISA Delay Nebraska Center

Hello everyone,

I am very tensed because my H1 has not been approved yet. Could anyone please tell me what someone in this situation might do.

I graduated in may 2002 and my OPT is valid until March 31st 2003. I applied for my H1 in November and recieved the LIN number on Nov 14th 2002.

After that I have not recieved any information from INS. I am really worried because I came to know that people who applied after me have already got their approvals.

I work in a university as an Assistant Professor, and I went through my school lawyer. She said all I can do is go online and check the website for any updates. other than that she does not have any suggestion. Please tell me what I should do.

Can I go to my nearest INS office and ask the Immigration Information Officer about my case. Will they be able to help me out.

Thank you in advance.

You can keep track of current priority date on this forum
http://www.immigration.com/processing-times/ne.html

They are currently Processing 12/12/2002 now it seems.
Your individual application might take a little longer.
A cheque of $1000 will upgarde your application to premium
processing. You might get your approval in 15 days in that case.

rpenmetsa,

Did you check the on-line status?

What does it say? If you don't have any information, you call the NSC @ (402) 323-7830 and ask them the status. If the IIO says that it is still pending, and you need your approval get your application converted to premium processing. Also tell the office thet your OPT EAD is expiring and if he/she could help you.

Thank You

Thank you for the information. I checked the website for status and it just says that they sent a reciept notice and the case takes 30-120 days.

Well I finally got a hold of my lawyer and she asked me to pay for the premium processing. Because she thinks they will not give any information even if she calls.

By the way I called and after 45 minutes I could reach the IIO and she told me she could not discuss the case because my lawyer filed the petition for me.

Anyway long story short after waiting for 4 months I am ending up paying $1000. And moral of the story is that if there is anyone out there who has a deadline to get the H1 please go ahead and pay for the premium processing. It is not worth the mental torture.

Once again the forum is great and very helpful.

Thank You...
