I have been with my current emplyer for 11 months (6 months on OPT) now I would like to change the emplyer.

  • How does the process work?
    How much does it cost?
    How long does it take?
    Is it true that you can start working immediately after you submit your application??

I don't want to let my current employer know until I know I can work with the new employer.

Q: How does the process work?

A: It is the same as any other H-1 petition with some different blocks checked.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: INS charges $1,130 filing fees. Plus attorney fees and incidentals

Q: How long does it take?

A: It depends on the service center and whether you use Premium processing. About 5-10 days for Premium Processing, about 3-6 months for standard processing.

Q: Is it true that you can start working immediately after you submit your application??

A: Yes.
