H1 Transfer and Extension?

Hi All,
I am applying for H1 transfer. My H1-B is going to end on 07th Sep 08 of the first 3 years. Do I need to transfer as well as apply for my extension? Or if I transfer is that fine?

If my H1-B is going to end on 07th Sep 08 which is good time for H1-B extension?

The new employer can extend your H-1 upto 3 years unless your 6 years are used up.

You can extend your H1 upto 6 months in advance of your expiry date.
You will have to transfer and apply for extension . For an extension - you will have to appear in person for interview in consulate, you will have to leave States to do this - the two processes are mutually exclusive.
