h1 to f1

I have completed 5 yrs 2 months in h1.
My labor app for green card has been
filed for nearly 2 yrs.
I got admission in MBA in a top IVY League school.
If I get laid off or if my green card doesnot work out
can I chnage to F1 after my 6 yrs in h1 is over?

Can I have both H1 and F1 status?

You can apply for F1 status by filing I-539 and convincing the INS/BCIS that you intend to return to your home country after the graduation. This might be harder if you have already spent several years in the US. Might be even harder if you/someone has filed I-140 on your behalf, but it looks like you are only in the LC stage, and so you are okay on this account.

One cannot have both H1B and F1 status at the same time.
