H1 to EAD Transition Question

Hi,

My H1 expires on Jan 28, 08

Let's say my EAD card was approved valid from Jan 29, 08 (the day after my H1 expires), but I receive it in the mail only on Feb 5, 08.

Can I start working on the EAD card on Jan 29 itself, or should I go unpaid and out of work until Feb 5?

On the EAD card, there is a "Valid From" date, which is the date that you can begin to work with the EAD.

In your question, if the the approved "valid from" date is Jan 29, 08, then you should be able to work on that date, not the EAD card received date.
