H1 Stamping with Fax copy @ chennai consulate-Urgent Pls help!

Dear Friends,

My wife, H1 holder was working with a company A and lost her job. Company A'a visa is not stamped in her passport. she still has OLD H1 stamped in her passport from the previous employer and that was expired.

She filed H1 with another company and after 7 months her employer got a query from INS requesting some additional documents.
In the mean time we had to visit India. So we filed for premium processing with all the documents that were requested by INS and went to India(First Huge Mistake!!!!)
Her H1 got approved on Oct 30th, while we were in India. Her employer recieved the fax copy from INS and faxed to India.
She went for stamping(using TTS drop box) with the fax copy(Second huge Mistake!!) on Oct 31st and still hasn't heard from consulate.I had to return to US due to some work related issues so I came with my baby first.


1)Is there any chance that her H1 will get rejected because she submitted the fax copy?

2)If its rejected what are our other options?
We have a one year old baby ,who is US citizen. I have a H1 till Nov 30 which is stamped in my passport and have H1 revalidated till 2005 but not stamped in my passport.

My feeling is that the consulate will ask her to produce the original H1 approval notice. Ask her employer to mail her the original notice. I dont think there is a serious problem here if all the documents are in order.

BTW, what was her field of work? Wondering if there is a name resemblance or security clearance issue.

She is working as Software Engg also anybody know how much time it takes for stamping @ chennai?

I am hearing from lot of people that its taking unusually long time(4 to 6 weeks!) @ chennai
