H1 Stamping at New Delhi

Hi,

I was on F1 in US before getting a job and got my H1 approved. I've been actively on H1 from June 2005. I am going to India on Nov 16th, 2005 for my marriage. My state falls under Chennai US Consulate, but due to unavailability of appointment dates over there, I got one on Dec7th at Delhi US Consulate. I've to return to US on Dec10th 2005.

I think that I've valid reason to apply for Delhi consulate. Please let me know if I am wrong in any way.

Now, my other question is whether I can take my wife along with me. I got the appointment at Delhi using the TTS service which is no longer available. I am not sure whether I can include her details in the application because at the time of filing for appointment, I am single. Now, I don't know if she can just accompany me to the consulate and will they allow her in along with me to the interview for her H4. Or do I have to cancel my prior appointment and take a new one using VFS service, therby including her details in the application? Some one please let me know. I tried reaching the US consulate in Delhi and the VFS guys, but they are not even attending the phone.

No, they wont allow your spouse to add her now in that interview slot. You could have done while taking your appointment thru TTS.

I would suggest that you both take appointment thru vfs now. I just saw the dates are available for Dec 6th 7th 8th and even nov 26th 28th for New Delhi.
This ways you can add her & yours appointment together.

Before making appointment at VFS you will have to cancel TTS ones. So make sure you deposit the fees in HDFC bank first and verify that your reciept number has been activated only then cancel from TTS and take at VFS.
