I am having an H1B stamping related doubt. If anyone can answer me, it will be really appreciated..

I am working on H1 for a consultancy firm and going to india on vacation soon. At that time I need to stamp.Say, my salary is 50$/hr currently and which is mentioned in every salary slip also , as an hrly rate. But in the offer letter which I got from employer at the time of joining, the gross income is mentioned as 60,000$/annum.

1. Now at the time of stamping interview, if they ask my salary. Is it ok to tell that my salary is 50$/hr.? So is it ok to get hourly salary?
I was having an idea that , consulate generally doesnt encourage hourly rate kind of salary and we shld have some annual gross income...

So pLs do advice me......

use 60K

hi,
i would advise to carry all original papers including tax papers, copy of filing returns from IRS, all pay slips and current employer letter stating 60 k salary, dont mention $50 / hr as on H1 its better to have salary match with W2 earnings. current bank statement also.
dont say anything about 1099 income if u have.

original CURRENT employer letter is a must, showing ur work field, time since u working, current salary and that you have gone for vacation and plan to join on so and so date( exact date).
enjoy

Hi dan, thnx for the reply..
I joined the current employer on last sep. Before that I was working for some other org with fixed monthly salary and I have all matching W2s.In sep, my salary slip showing 5k salary which is 60k/12 for current employer. From oct onwards my salary was revised and got offer for hourly rate and salary slip also showing clearly 50$/hr from oct onwards. So if they ask my salary and i tell 60k/annum.But current salary slip mentioning 50$/hr which stands much more then 60k on annual basis. Cant this create a problem?
So, if they ask my current salary, do u suggest me to tell just 50$/hr is my salary. As Salary stubs also showing the same.

My all prev W2s and income returns r very clear and i hv all originals.
