H1 Separation

I'm in an H-1B position as a software developer and my wife, whom I married in Romania, is with me with an H4 visa, as a dependent.

Our relationship seems to shake a bit right now and I'm contemplating separation or divorce. How can I do this while in H1 status? Also, the green card process is now at PWR (we're waiting for response from DOL on the PWR form). What would the effects of a separation/divorce be on this process?

Why would it matter at all? Dependents do not come into play at all in the process, the GC is for YOU. You even are not required to include a dependent in the I485. Once you divorce your wife will be out of status anyway.
