Hi,

I came to the US in 1999 , and didnot go back to india. So my visa stamped on the passport has expired. After that i have changed 2-3 companies and have there h1's. But i did not get my passport stamped with any of the other h1's.

Now i have to go to india . can i use the drop box facility there to get a new h1 stamped?

any info will be appreciated.

Yes, you can get your Visa stamped in India. But you will be talking a chance. If your travel date is around 4 months from now, you can get H1 Visa stamped in your passport in USA itself.
It takes around 3-1/2 months to get your visa stamped from the date of receipt of your application at St.Louis office.

You can get it stamped in India. This is the only option. You can't do it here in US. Carry all documents!

u can do it in US if your visa on passport has not expired for more than 1 year.
 
I would suggest that your India trip be planned for atleast 3 months vacation under current situations if the consulate is Chennai. One reason is that they go through all the documents extensively. Yours is not a trivial case.
