H1 Problem

My H1 got approved couple of months back and have been working since. I got approval letter but did not get the letter (or the copy of the letter) that has I-94 attached. Now, I want to travel outside of the country but I do not have a valid I-94. I asked my employer for I-94 but he says that he does not have it. What do I do? Please advise.

whats your status prior to this h1 (i assume its h4).

what do you mean by approval letter and from whom.
