H1--Issue need advice

I am on valid H1B and my employer had laid off me. My H1B is valid till Aug 2010.

Here are my questions.

Till what time I need to transfer my H1B to new employer.( My employer has said he hold my H1 till June 31).

what are the chances that I will be deported?

till what time I can be without a job and no body holding my H1.

Or what is the best solution in this situvation.

Once you are laid off you are out of status... there is no 'grace' period. Find a new job ASAP. After your current employer revokes the H-1B petition, you start to accumalate illegal presence.
