h1/h4 extenstion

Sorry for posting this here but I did not get any response when I posted it in the appropriate forum:


My friends and his wife and kids H1/H4 expires in a few days. They are NJ residents. What are their options? Their Driving License also expires on the same day.

How will they drive while the H1/H4 renewal process is going on? I have heard it takes 3 months or more these days?

Please suggest options.

They can not renew their DL until they receive (physical)the H1/H4 approval (I-797). Why did your friends waited for last min. ? Don't they know, one could apply for H1 renewal 6 months before the expiry date?
 
Visa expiry date + 3 months

In NJ DMV allows visa expiry date + 3 months. So before expiring may be they can extend another 90 days. I got my driving license with additional three months from my expiration date.

NJ started issuing license valid for 90 days + expiry only in last couple of years

His friend might have got the license 3 years back when they were issuing the licence valid only till the date of expiry of H1 or EAD. Only in last couple of years have DMV got the sense to extend the validilty 90 days beyond the expiry of legal status doc.
 
You are right they got their validity only uptil the H1 validity. Is there a way to go to DMV and get it extended for 3 months?

What are the current USCIS feels for H1 extenstion and H4 extention? Will the fee include H1 and H4 for his wife and kid?

Does premium porcessing 1000$ cover the H4 for his wife and kid?

I am bit surprised1
well no $ 1000 is for each of you so total cost shd be $3000 for premium processing.
ALso, the cost for extension shd be ...........$250 i guess (for each)
