H1 going to expire. Applied for AP.Is it OK to travel?

H1 going to expire. Applied for EAD/AP.Is it OK to travel?

My H1 and my family's H4 is going to expire by end of March '04. We applied for 485 by the end of '02. Applied for the first EAD/AP in Nov'03. Still working on H1 but planning to move to EAD, when H1 expires. There is an emergency and requires travel overseas within another couple of weeks and the duration of stay is not known(may return before H1 expires or after). Please let me know the options available for me and my family to travel overseas.

If it is an emergency travel and can not wait until AP approval, you need to come back before the expiry of H1. If you can wait, apply for AP and leave the country carrying approved AP.
 
Can we get the AP in any center

I understand we can get interim AP.
Can we get it in any center or do we need to go only to the one in our state.

Is yes. what all documents we need for get Interim AP ?

You can get at Newark, NJ show them your pending AP receipt atleast mine was pending for 90 days, not sure how they will treat your case.

If you come back before your H1B expires you don't need AP.
Last year I went to Newark and got the AP without any problems. I don't if any thing has been changed this year
I also had an valid H1 at that time.

About U having obtained AP from Newark, did U belong to Newark Local Service center's jurisdiction or U just approached them for AP?

Was just curious to know if they provide same day APs to applicants from other states too .. ( esp NY and like as these offices don't issue APs unless it's an emergency).

I live in NJ so I belong to Newark Jurisdiction. Me and My wife both go it. You just need to go 2 weeks before your travel date.
