H1 Extension while I-140 is pending

Can I get my H1 extend if my I-140 application is pending but not approved. If so then for how long H1 will be extended ? I know one can get 3 year extension with approved I-140 and one year with pending labor. But not sure what happens to people in my situation ?

When I asked the same question to my attorney, their reply was, we will get the H1 extension for an year, as usual. If there is enough time, it is better to wait until the 140 gets approved and then apply for h1 ext.

Better to check with your attorney.
