Friends -

I am planning on getting a visa stamping done for my H1 extension at the Mumbai consulate (India). Would appreciate any experiences anybody might have had recently there.

Also -
a) Can I go directly for the drop box option...since I have an H1 visa stamped already?

b) My wife has an H4 and will also come with me...can she also go directly for the drop box?

c) Recently read on this forum that the spouse's name must be on the passport for H4...is this the case?

d) Any special item that we must be aware of w.r.t Mumbai stamping?

Thanks for any advice/info/guidance you can give.

Take care :)

I did it on May 21 this year. H1 Stamping in Mumbai is very easy unless things have changed in the past 3 months.

Just follow the instructions on the website www.visaservices.com. It is quite simple. Not too many docs are reqd:
Passport, I-797, I-129 H-supplement, letter of continuing employment from your boss, perhaps a letter authorising the leave DS156 and DS157 forms filled out.

Gave the docs on tuesday got it back by courier on thursday. Another friend of mine went through the same process 2 weeks later.

I wrote a lenthy descriptino of the process around Jun 15 (when I returned). If you can scroll back in the archives, you may find it still there.

But all that I have mentioned is re. H1. I have no idea whatsoever regarding H4s (other than that it is a spouse visa ;-))

Yes, infact it is the only option you have AFAIK.
