H1 Extension - URGENT!

Hi,

I have a question on my H1-B extension.
I am currently on my first H1-B period with the same employer who filed the initial petition. This period is about to expire soon and my employer has filed for extension already.

What is the likeliness of extension's approval for my case, which is for the same employer and same petition? How does the current market situation affect H1B extensions these days?

Thanks,

Don't worry indianh1b ,

You are in good shape, as long as you file h1 ext one day before your current status expire, you won't have problem. You will have 240 days to get your h1 ext appove. only thing is issue if you won't able to go out county, becuase you don't have visa and if you live usa then your h1 ext application will aboden.
Alternatively you can go for premium processing.

I hope this will help.

Thanks

Thanks jbm, I guess it's just a matter of waiting then.
My attorney has filed for extension at Vermont. Things seem to be going very slow there. I hope I can get the extension ASAP.

Is travelling within the US a problem while the extension is still pending? My h1b expires on September 30th, 2002, ie., in another 21 days. Will I be becoming "out of status" after that date even if I have a processing receipt/acknowledgement from INS in hand?

Thanks again!

job market

And also, have you heard of anything from the current job market influencing h1-b extensions? Does INS think "Why should we extend this guy when we have many Americans out of a job?".

Thanks,
