My H1 extension was filed in 4/18/02 along with my wife's h4 dependent visa. We got our WAC numbers (we are in California).
Around Oct 2002, my wife's H4 got approved. After two FAX enquiries to INS by my company's lawyer, INS responded in first week of Dec 2002 stating that they had overlooked my case, and added that it had been handed over to a case officer and I would be hearing from them in 7-10 days. No News yet.
My I-94 expired on 6/15/02.
Can I work here even if it has crossed 240 days from my I94 expiry date even if I dont hear anything from INS regarding my H1 extension?
And what is this 240 days rule?
Any explanations are welcome.
