Hi,

My H1 visa expired and my 7th year H1 Extension is pending at INS. My CP interview scheduled for this month.

1. Do I need to carry H1 approval document for CP interview or is the H1 receipt sufficient for consulate.

2. Is it safe to postpone interview and go on approved H1 Extension.

Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Receipt is enough.

If you get the extension, it may be OK to postpone the interview- but not advisable unless you have a pressing reason. The longer you wait, more the risk of something bad happening. ie, scrapping of H1b visa program-because of congressional passage of a pending bill/lay offs etc, . Good luck

;)

I concur with Rajeev. Since you have the H-1B extension receipt and assuming you have all other documents required for CP interview, I'd suggest do not postpone your scheduled cp interview. It takes a long time to get a good news (cp interview and gc completion) but short period to get swamped in bad news (potential scrapping of h-1b program, company going bankrupt, layoffs)..

All the best!
