H1 extension after 6yrs

Gurus,

My company applied for my H1 extension (1 yr) in Feb 01 but I just got laid off. My H1 (6 yr) expires on 4/30/01. Questions -
1.Is there any way for me to use the H1 extension petition filed by the old company?
2. Can I, say, use it towards a new job?
3. If I were to find a job tomorrow with a new employer, could they file an H1 extension and hire me?

Yes and only if the old company intensd to offer you the job back. In other words, your GC should still be in process with them.

No, you can\'t.
