H1 Extension after 6 years

My friend H1 is expiring in July 2002(actully 6 years limit). He works for company A and his company applied for his GC through company B. His GC process is in I140 stage(He started the GC process 2years back,so is he eligible for > 365 days clause?). He is planning to apply for H1 extension, but his company A is applying extension of his H1 through Company A. is this correct? or shall he apply through Company B. What are the papers he has to submit for his 7th year extension. If he didn\'t get extension how many days(after his H1 expires) he can stay in US to settle the things here and to go back to INDIA. Any help is highly appreciated.I told him not to worry but he is worried a lot...

He works for A, A sposers his H1B. B applied his GC and its EDD/I140 more than 365 days old.
Your friend is eligible for 7th year extension.
Through whom?
He can extend 7th year through A showing B\'s pending approval of I140 or he can apply through B as his new employer or he can find a new sponser C as his new employer by showing B\'s pending issue.
Cheer up friend. But do it 6 months before 6th year completes.

Thanks for the info. He applied for his extension 1 week back, he didn\'t applied 6 months before his H1 expires... is there any rule that he has apply 6 months before? let\'s hope every thing works out ok...
