H1 expiring and EAD related question

Hi

I have heard a lot about this forum but never checked and tried. Today being long weekend , could find some time, hence asking a question to all great GC Tracker Gurus a question :

Here is my situation :

I have applied my I485 some time first week of Dec'2001. I do not have the exact RD/ND but it is sometime first week of Dec'2001. I received EAD/AP etc. for myself and my wife sometime in the month of Jan'2002. We traveled to India and came back in Mar'2002.

At the time of entry in US , I showed my valid H1 and H4 along with AP. The officer gave us I-94 Card with remark "Paroled until Mar'2003".
At this time, I had valid H1 and EAD card both and also AP.

In the month of mar'2002 , I discussed this with my lawyer , he said I do not need to do anything.

Now, in the month of OCT , I applied for renewal of my EAD , and the new EAD card valid till jan'2004 has come. (for myself and my wife as well) .
My H1 and H4 are expiring end of Dec'2002.

Questions :
1. What is this "paroled until ......" means ?
2. When I entered in the country from India , am I shifted to EAD ? hence the H1 is no longer valid ?
3. Do I need to apply for H1 extension ?
4. What makes or trigger an individual to be in the county on EAD or H1 (in this situation) ?

5. Should I consider myself on EAD or H1 ?
6. Is this true that by just getting the EAD , one is considered to be on EAD (even though H1 is valid or not and if valid not required to be renewed)

You are still on H1 since it has not expired and you've not switched your job. You'll be on EAD status once the H1 expires. Regarding H1 extension, it's upto you to decide. You can continue to work on EAD without having an H1. However, keeping an H1 is safer in case of I-485 denial, which is very unlikely though. In case of I-485 denial, EAD becomes invalid, H1 does not.
