H1 duration..more than 6 years.Is it valid ?

Hi,
I did my final extension of H1-B visa and got it approved till April 2000.
I had come to USA in Jan 1995.If I stay here till April, it is more than 6 years.But I got the extension till April 2000.Please advise whether it is valid to stay here till April even though it is more than 6 years.
