H1-B visa status timing issue

Hi,

I am currently working for a US employer on H1-B status. Recently, there was an announcement that our company would be bought over by an MNC but the exact date of acquisition is still unknown. This MNC is known not to sponsor employees on H1-B status, but only on exceptions.

In the event that the MNC buys our company over shortly,
1. Does the H1-B visa from current employer get automatically transferred to the MNC?
2. Supposing I change employers on getting laid off, how many days do I have before I can get my visa transferred to the new employer? In other words, is there any time buffer to maintain H1-B status after lay-off?
3. If there is absolutely no time buffer between transferring H1-B from current employer to a new employer, what are the best alternatives to avoid losing status?

Thanks in advance!
