H1-B Visa Revalidation

My H1-B visa expires on 1st of Jan 2004. I am going to visit India in the mid of Decemeber and will return back in Jan. So can't send my Passport for Visa stamping in US since the rule of 60 days prior to expiry date and the time it takes to get the visa stamped 12 weeks.
My lawyer suggested to get the Visa stamped in Canada.
Can you please tell me if this is the better option and how much time does it take to get it stamped in Canada.
Can I go somewhere around the month of August though it is 60 days prior to the visa expiry.
Can I get it stamped right now or the rule of 60 days prior to expiry applies here too.

Thanks
