H1 B travel question

Guys,
Need some advise

I have a PR card and am currently in the US on H1B.

While travelling to India and getting back into the US, what do you normally enter on the I 94 as "Country where you reside"?

I am afraid that mentioning Canadian PR status will cause unnecessary questioning, it is totally legal but may lead to a lot of pain.

Also, if trying to transfer H1s, should i give the lawyer my Canadian address or just the Indian address?

I plan to settle back in Canad as soon as i get a decent job, but in the meanwhile will appreciate your feedback.

Thx

I guess they ask of country of citizenship on I-94 rather than country of residence.

So you will be okay..

You can write US!!!!

I am in the same boat (have Canadian PR, working in US on H1B). I recently went to Pakistan on vacations and came back on Jan 19th. I entered US in the country of residence as I am doing the same for last 3 years, never had any problems.

Since we work and live in US, its our country of residence. They don't ask for the country of permanent residence, just the country where you reside.

logicators

I tried entering "USA" in that column once and the INS officer was furious.....he said that i could only do that if i was a US permanent resident
did you mention that you were a Canadian PR ?
