H1-B Transfer receipt notice

Hi all !!!

I started my H1 transfer with a new employer after getting laid off from a previous employer. It has been 3 weeks since my petition has been sent to the BCIS (Vermont Center) but has not received a receipt letter? How much time does it usually take to receive one? Also, if I get a project in the mean-time, can I start working before the receipt arrives?

Usually the receipt comes 3-5 weeks. But you cannot work until you get the receipt.
