H1 B Transfer issue, please help urgent

Hi -
1) I am currently working for a Company A and I got a new job offer from Company B. I have to give 2 weeks notice to Company A. I have decided to work for the first week and take the second week off(vacation) from Company A. In the mean while I will be joining Company B from next week. So I will have a overlap of one week where I will be paid by both Company A & Company B. My H1 transfer is still pending. Hopefully I will get my H1 Transfered in the mean time.
Is this legal or does it have any consequences with my visa.

2) If company B just gives me a fed-ex receipt of the INS receiving my documents. Does that mean that I am good to go from company A. Or do i have to get a receipt no from INS stating that they have filed my case?. Is that receipt electronic? how long does the receipt take to come?

Thanks and I appreciate all the response.

You must wait until you have an approved I-797 for company B before you can start employment with that company.

YOU CAN ONLY WORK FOR COMPANY B IF YOU RECEIVE THE H1B TRANSFER RECEIPT.
IF YOU HAVE IT NOW, YOU CAN WORK FOR BOTH. BUT I DON'T THINK YOU WANT TO MAKE THING COMPLICATED IN THE FUTURE. JUST QUIT A AND CASH THE VACATION MONEY.

DEPEND IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A RISK OR NOT :) I AM NOT THE RISK TAKER ON MY FUTURE. The date on the H1B receipt sometimes is NOT THE SAME as on fed-ex receipt.

Thanks and I appreciate all the response.
