I will be taking an appointment at the Mumbai consulate to revalidate my H1-B and subsequently a H4 for my wife. I had a few questions…

1. I started working on my H1-B in Dec 2002. I got my visa stamped in April 2003 from F1- H1 at Tijuana Mexico. Unfortunately I got laid off from the company on 30 June 2003. My severance cheque is dated 23 July 2003.
2. I got an offer from my existing company on 11 Aug 2003 signed and mailed it back on 12 Aug 2003. They filed for my H1-B on 18 Aug 2003 and I started working for them on 24 Aug 2003. I received my new I-797 subsequently with the new I-94.
3. After that in the past 2 years I made a few trips to India and did not do the re-stamping because of the new rule… Old visa and new I-797.

These are the series of events… here are my questions…

1. What should my answer be if the consulate says why did you switch jobs?
2. Is there any possibility of e rejection in H1-B stamping for reasons like… laid off from previous job or did not take a stamp on subsequent visits to India?
3. Would this have any impact on my wife H4 when she goes for her H4 stamping?

Both of us would be schedule to go on different dates because of stupid MUMBAI Consulate rules regarding H1 / H4 stamping….

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks
