Hi,
I went in for my first H1-B renewal at Vancouver consulate. All my papers were prepared for me by my company. However, during the interview, I was asked about my work and then given a notice stating that I had to submit additional documentation (CV, publications etc.) for a security check at Washington before the visa would be granted.
I am getting these ready right now but I would really appreciate feedback from all who have been in this situation recently. In particular, I had the following questions:
1) On average, how long does this security check processing take? I am an engineer (researcher) working for a reputed company in the US. Does this make a difference?
2) I am in Canada on a visitor visa -- should I stick around here and wait or is it better to go back to India? If I do the latter, should I re-apply in India? Or do I have to come back to Canada to pick up my visa? If I have to come back to Canada, can I get a Canadian visa in India or has anyone encountered issues here.
Any information or experiences in this context will be really really helpful!!! Please do post information -- I am extremely worried about what I should do and would really appreciate feedback from you all.
Thanks
-NY
