H1-B holder to marry a US Citizen

Hello,

Not really sure if this would be the right forum to ask this question, so pardon me.

I am currently an H1-B visa holder and engaged to a US citizen. We plan to get married after Christmas.

Can anyone explain to us where and how to start processing my adjustment of status (to being a permanent resident) once we are married?

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

your wife has to file a petition on your behalf with her local INS office.

i don\'t know the numbers of the forms she has to file but you can talk to a local INS office about this matter. it\'s not as bad as for us foreign nationals having to talk to visa procesing center computers etc. you get to talk to a real person who cares slightly...

I think as far as I know your wife has to file an I-131(not sure check the # of form).....and you file for I-485......and for more information the www.ins.gov site is best for getting required information.
