H1-B extension and practical training ? Need some answers!

Hi all,

I have several questions and I really appreciate if you answer.

My first 3 year of H1-B is expiring at the end of October. My employer applied for the extension and the receipt date is June 11 but I am still waiting to hear from VSC.

Question 1: If I do not get the approval by the end of October, what happens? Am I allowed stay in the US and am I allowed to work since application for extensions was already filed long time ago?

I am also getting my PhD degree pretty soon. Hoping by the end of October.

Question 2: Since I am graduating, can I use my practical training if H1-B approval does not come on time?

Question 3: Even if I have the H1-B extension, can I still use my practical training now and use my H1-B time in the future? Is this possible?

(1) Yes

(2) and (3) As far as I know, OPT is only for F1 status (and J1 students). If at an earlier point you were on F1, that would not help since you are currently in H1.
