H1-B Change of Status - Don't Have Stamp

Hi guys,

I initially came to America on a one year J1 visa. Before it expired, my new employer applied for a H1-B visa on my behalf and it was approved. I received my 1-797A along with a new I-94. It is valid until October, 2013. I have been working under my H1-B status for over a year and a half now.

However, I am going on vacation back home in two days, and I realized that I don't have an actual H1-B visa stamp in my passport. Will this be a problem, even though I have all the other documentation showing that it has been approved?

You will need a new visa so try and schedule appointment with your consular. Notify your hr partner at work and ask them to provide copies of all docs submitted to uscis as the consular officer may request them.

Thanks Minto.

Do you mean with the Irish Consulate (I'm Irish) here in New York, or the American Embassy in Ireland?
