H1 Approval Taking too Long | USCIS Status not updated

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and need some help with regard to my H1 application.

My petition was filed on Oct 21, 2011 on regular processing at VSC by an Indian Consulting firm. After much waiting,
the UscIS website showed that an RFE had been issued on Feb 17, 2012. The consultant said that the RFE was for an Educational Evaluation and they have responded to it on May 25, 2012 (took some time because they had to do it twice). Till today, the USCIS site shows as RFE had been issued on Feb 17, 2012. It does not show that the response has been received.
I checked with the consultant and he has assured me that they have responded to the RFE in May, 2012. I asked him for any proof that he might have that USCIS has received the response. But he said that USCIS does not give proof, but the case status should be updated online.

It is going to be close to 90 days now and I still do not have any update about my petition. Need your help for suggesting my options now. Should I go for a premium processing now? Can I trust the consultant and pay him for premium processing?

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Vijay

Guys, would appreciate if you could reply to my queries with some suggestions. Has anybody faced a similar situation?

If you have your case number, you can contact the USCIS directly by phone and inquire.

Thanks for the reply. I tried calling up on the customer care number but all I get is an automated response, which is the same as the online status. Can we not get in touch with any human on the phone? And can I call and get the information or only the petitioner (the consultant or his lawyer) can get any information on the phone?
