Dear all,

I am working on my extended H-1B (1st extension) which is valid till Dec 2006, but have received my EAD after applying for I-485. I am getting married in a couple of months and bringing my wife to the US. I am interested to know if anyone has faced hardships at the Chennai consulate when they and their better halves went for the interview to get their visa issued and stamped. This will be the first time I will be travelling outside the US after I applied for my I-485 and got my EAD, also the first time after I got my H-1B extended. I am worried about the kind of questions that will be asked, for ex: what is my intention of going back to the US? - I can't say for temporary work anymore, since they know I've applied for my Green Card.
Please tell me I'm just being paranoid,
Sincerely,
SS

As long as there is nothing unlawful about your H-1B / GC process and you have maintained status throughout there is nothing to worry about since H-1B is a non-immigrant visa with a dual intent of immigrating so it is ok to go for visa stamping while in the 485 stage. Basically dont lie since you are dealing with the consulate and they pretty much know everything inside out. So if asked why you want to return to usa ...you can say to rejoin work for which you have h-1b. If asked about GC...you can freely say you are in the process of getting GC. And this is not a reason for rejection....especially since you already have yoru approval document and you are simpy going to get a visa stamp!
