H1 7th yr Extension after I-140 Approval

Hi all,
I have 6 months more (till June '06) for completing 6yrs on H1.
I got my labor(PERM) and i140 APPROVED in Nov 2005. Priority date is 6/25/2005.
However, I'm not sure when is the best time to file for H1 extension.
My employer's "policy" is to file h1 extension 2 months before expiry (ie in April '06).
Q1) Is 1 or 2 months gap before 6th year H1 expiry enough to guarentee my stay for 7th year?
Q2) I was out of country (almost an year in total) and am eligible for H1 "recapture" also. Is that useful by any chance for 7th yr stay?
