H1 7th year extension using pending 140

Guys,
I have a pending 140 from previous compnay. I was layed off after 2months of concurrent applying of 140/485. Can I apply for 7th year extension using the pending 140 from previous employer. The H1B extnesion will be for the new H1B visa I have for my current employer? If yes, how long before my current visa expires I can apply for 7th year extension. I'd appreciate if you can let me know.

Since your employer changes, you can apply for an H1 Transfer (+ 7th year extension if needed) with your pending 140/485 receipts, to the new employer. You dont have to wait for your current visa expiration. The sooner you do the better.
