H1 6 yrs expiring, laid off from job

My H1 is expiring on 4/30/2001 and I just got laid off. My I-140 had been stuck in VSC for 7 months and the company had already applied for a 1 yr extension of my H1. My questions are -
1. If I get another job, can I continue to stay in the US?
2. Will I have to leave the country as my H1 6 yrs is expiring?
3. What happens to the H1 extension application filed by my company?

If there is anybody in similar situation, could you please share your experience?
Thanks.

Strictly speaking, you have 10 days to leave the country. Anyway, answers to your questions...
1. If I get another job, can I continue to stay in the US? NO.
2. Will I have to leave the country as my H1 6 yrs is expiring? Probably Yes.
3. What happens to the H1 extension application filed by my company? If it gets approved, your employer should cancel it as you are no longer working for him.
Anyway, talk to a good Immi lawyer. He may have better suggestions like joining a different company and I-140 redo\'s etc. Your situation doesn\'t look very good.
