H visas expiring

All,
H1 and H4 visas in our passport are valid only till April 30th 2002. We also recd. the extension papers last month and i am wondering we will be in status from May, 2002 onwards as our visas in our passport will be expired by then. Since i am planning for a short visit to India in 2 months or 3, we don\'t want to send our passports to D.C. Could please suggest me what to do ??? Is it ok to go to India with the expired visa and get the revalidation done (H extension) when i am in India.

you can.....

You are in status as your extension case was filed during proper timeframe. You can continue working with the approval document. However, if you leave the country, you need to get your visa stamped for reentry purposes. You can get in India also. For more info. you can check the websites of US consulates in India.
