Hi,
My wife is traveling to India in mid April and returning end of June and has an H-4 visa. Our current H-1 and H-4 stamps are expiring May 31, 2004.
I recently extended my H-1 and have an approval notice and we are still waiting for her H-4 approval notice.
I have a couple of questions regarding her H-4 stamping at Chennai:
1. Is there any risk in her trying to apply for H-4 stamping in Chennai without me having a H-1 stamped on my passport for the extended visa period?
2. What is the latest procedure for H-4 extension stamping? Dropbox (TT Services) or Interview (Appointment)
3. What are the documents that she needs to carry with her. I have the following list already, please feel free to add/edit.
. Completed Form DS-156, Application for Nonimmigrant Visa (Form available at the Consulate or online at: http://travel.state.gov/DS-0156.pdf);
· Passport, valid for at least six months after date of expiration of approved H-4 status;
· Two recent passport-style color photographs;
· ORIGINAL Form I-797
. A copy of my Form I-797 H-1B approval notice;
. Copies of two most recent paystubs
. A letter from employer verifying employment
. Copies of my I-94 card, visa stamp and passport bio/photo page, all from my passport;
· Application fees ($100 for the visa and $50 reciprocity fee for Indian citizens); and
. Marriage certificate to show the family relationship to me.
