I have an H1B stamping appointment in Vancouver for the second week of November. If you were there recently, could you PLEASE share your experience? Any cases with long security checks? Any info would be very helpful.

Hello,
When did u schedule ur visa appt?

the reason i am asking is because I am looking for an appt in december or early Jan.currently there are no appts at the US embassy at Vancouver for the next 8 weeks.

I am wondering at the possibility of getting an appt date in Dec or early Jan.

I understand that the appt can be scheduled at www.nvars.com.is there any other avenue to schedule an appt?

Your response would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re:

Two times I observed how large groups of available appointments in Vancouver appeared either Sun-Mon midnight or so, or Tuesday afternoon, from 11am till maybe 5-6 pm. (all times are Eastern times). But they are taken very quickly, about 70 appts. disappear in 1 hour...

first ever h-1 stamping from h-1 in vancouver without I-94 - please help!!!!!

Hi,

I was on H-4 and I got my h-1 approval just now and its valid from October 2006. The problem is that I applied for H-1 when I was in India and so when I came back my sponsoring company applied for change of status petition. But I got h-1 approval without I-94. So, the authorities have not taken into consideration my change of status request. Now my questions are,

1) As this is my first ever h-1 stamping, will vancouver visa consulate provide me stamping without I-94 and pay stubs and only with other necessary documents like I-797, offer letter, etc.

2) If I will not be granted visa stamping, then will I have difficulties coming back to US? I still have my H-4 valid.

3) I am going by car from seattle to vancouver. Can anyone advice me any consequences at the border?

I am going to vancouver on 1st October as my visa appointment is on 2nd....I will really appreciate a quick advice and help!!!

Thanks,
Komal

Komal,

Try to get pay 1-2 stubs, or paychecks, or bank statements which show direct deposit from employer. I am not sure about I-94.

>2) If I will not be granted visa stamping, then will I have difficulties coming >back to US? I still have my H-4 valid.

Sorry, not sure what to answer. Generally if the visa is denied there are difficulties...

>3) I am going by car from seattle to vancouver. Can anyone advice me any >consequences at the border?

From what people say, it is even less hussle at the border if you go by car.

We stayed in Bosmans hotel. It was in downtown, verynear to Embassy. It was a decent hotel for 2 days and got a decent deal from Hotels.com
