H-1B extention under special circumstances

Hi all,
I am not sure if this even exists or not, but just wanted to throw this question.
My H-1B is expiring soon and the project at my client company is not completed and I am an important person for that project.

In this case, is there a way to get an extension of H-1 by some formal request from the company or any other way?

Thanks in advance

SURE

If you are that important and irreplaceable you would surely qualify for an "O" visa.

Every company thinks that there H-1 employees are important (particulary if they are earning money for the company), that's why the company went to the expense of hiring an H-1 worker. If INS permitted an extension under these circumstances they would be swamped with extension requests for "special circumstance).

Sekar,

there is a provision for H1B 7th year extension but first you should have had your I-140 approved or atleast an year has passed after I-140 has been applied and INS has not cleared this case.

I heard from my attorneys that it is likely that even if labor is not approved before the expiry of the 6th yr of H1B it is possible to stay in the US without even reloacting to abroad and stay there for 1 year. The Law might be signed in by the president this week!!!

Hope to have some good news!!!!
