My H-1B has been approved and will be effective from October, 2025.
I am looking to get my visa stamped between Dec '25-Jan '26, however, my passport expires next year in October 2026. I heard that it is at the discretion of the consulate officer to provide a visa validity either for 3 years or less depending on passport expiry - is this true?
Additionally, I also wanted to know if this upcoming expiry in October next year would impact my I-94 record and how I would need to go about this once I complete renewing my passport from within the US.
