H-1B and optional practical training (OPT). Please advise.

I got a job while I was foreign student (F-1) and company sponsored me for H-1B. I graduated recently. My question can I apply for OPT while I am in H-1B. I want to quit my current job and would like to work in OPT for certain time to get a parmanent position leading to H-1B in future. Advise.

did you go from your f1 student visa to a h1 directly without applying for your OPT? Did you have any internships during your time at university? Please send me your email add... it will help greatly as I have some similar questions
