Hi All:I am a F-1 Student(MS-Computer Science) on my OPT (Expires Dec-15) applied for my H-1b on June 20th (Applied by myself not through a attorney) and got a reciept Number..Last week my company recieves a notice from BCIS stating they need some extra documents..The letter goes like this:

" Additional Evidence Required to support your petition

You have submitted a brief description of the job duties with your initial filing, however the description submitted is not convincing that the position qualifies as a "Speciality Occupation".the evidence submitted is not sufficent to establish that the job is speciality in scope.ie.,requires atleast a baccalurate degree in a directly related field.Submit a detailed statement setting forth the beneficiary's proposed duties and responsibilities. Also indicate the educational requirements of the proposed position and how the bebeficiary's education relates to the position itself."

I dont know what to do..Please help..

Note: Position Applied: Computer Programmer

Job description which i gave in the petition: Maintain and modify routine programs, software application research and development and testing, database design, sofware development.

My Bachelor Degree: BE Mechanical Engg.

h1b visa for speciality occupation requires baccalurate degree.

your labor/h1 petition should have mentioned your role and educational requirement.

your employer and your lawyer had to work closely in resolving this issue. you will not be able to do anything in this issue

Thank you very much for your advice...as i mentioned early i applied for my H-1b by myself not through a lawyer..so i have prepare the documentation and send it back...and i need some advice on this.

Thanks
karthik

You will have to document how your mechanical engineering degree is relevant to the computer programming job. Include all previous experience letters too. You may also need an educational evaluation of your degree.
If you are going to graduate soon, include that information as well.

I have already graduated with a masters degree in computer science..so i guess i can relate my masters degree to my work...i dont have any letter of work experience ..i joined my company as inter 1.5 years back and got a fulltime job thereitself..in that case should i get a letter of workexperience from my company (h-1b sponsoring company) and submit it ?

So what do you guys suggest me..i have made a mistake of not going to an attorney...could you guys please let me know what i should do ?

Thanks
