I like to know the status of the H1 petition. I came to US in 2000 for education on F1 visa that got it changed to H1 in 2004. I worked on the H1 visa for less than an year. After the contract ended I didn't work for another year as I was working on my MS thesis. After being wthout work for more than one year I left US back to my country in an emergency. I came back again to US on an F1 visa to finish my studies. I stayed for eleven months in my country.
I didn't got my H1 stampped as I heard that it takes more than eight month for background checks. The H1 petition is still valid till 09-30-07. I like to work again in IT but not sure if I can use the same H1 again with a new company. I would really appreciate any pointers in this matter.
